Christopher B. Adsit
Chris was born in 1951 in Topeka, Kansas. His father, Boyd Adsit, now retired, was with the FBI and the family had the opportunity to live in Kansas, Indiana, Maryland, Alaska, Alabama and Colorado. Chris graduated in 1969 from Wheatridge High School in Wheatridge, Colorado, a suburb of Denver. Chris received Christ as His Savior in 1970 while a biology student at Colorado State University. He competed in intercollegiate track as a hurdler. Chris joined the staff of Campus Crusade in 1974 to minister with Athletes in Action Track Team in Santa Ana, California. He switched track events to the decathlon and made All-American status his first year. He became director of the AIA Track Team in 1978. In 1981 the Track Team was expanded to three other track-oriented cities: Eugene, Oregon, Phoenix, Arizona and Waco, Texas. The headquarters was moved to Eugene. While there, Chris wrote the book, Personal Disciplemaking, which was published in 1988. In 1992, Disciplemakers International was launched as a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, in order to further the work of resourcing disciplemakers which was begun with the publication of Personal Disciplemaking. In September 2005 Disciplemakers International became part of the Military Ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, providing discipleship training for the Military Ministry and continuing to produce and provide disciplemaking resources for the Body of Christ worldwide. Spiritual Background Dick began to follow-up his decision, and involved him in the ministry of the Navigators at CSU. He was very active with the Navs the rest of his college years, and for one year after college, receiving a tremendous amount of training in how to live the victorious Christian life and how to make disciples. In 1974 Chris made the decision to invest the athletic talents God had given him by joining the ministry of Athletes in Action, the athletic arm of Campus Crusade for Christ, International. He moved to Santa Ana, California, headquarters at that time for the AIA Track Team, and received further ministry training. He also switched track events from the hurdles to the decathlon, and made All-American status the first year at it. Unfortunately, he was injured each spring after that for five years and never reached that athletic level again. But through it all, the Lord taught him a truckload of valuable lessons that he could not have learned any other way. Besides being involved in evangelism, leading Bible studies, speaking in classrooms, churches, and club meetings, putting on evangelistic track clinics, conducting international competing/ministry tours and discipling individuals, he became Director of the AIA Track Team in 1978 - the same year he married his wife, Rahnella. Four years after writing Personal Disciplemaking Chris launched Disciplemakers International (1992). In September 2005 Chris became the Associate National Director of Discipleship for the Military Ministry. Click here to read many of the articles he has written. Chris is ordained through Evangelical Church Alliance. Track Record Intercollegiate: Senior year (1973) 1st in Western Athletic Conference in 400m Intermediate Hurdles (50.5), 2nd in 110m High Hurdles (14.1), 5th in NCAA Division I 400m Intermediate Hurdles National Championships (50.3). Post-College with Athletes in Action: 1975 - 7th in Amateur Athletic Union National Decathlon Championships. Represented USA in international decathlon meet against Russian and Poland. Injured each competition season after that!
